I built Windows Gutters Etc from nothing — living out of my car, with a phone and a work ethic, no investors, no state help of any kind. I know exactly how many small decisions in the process could have made that harder, because I lived through every one of them.
I want to know exactly what state government is doing that makes it harder to start or grow a private business in Colorado — licensing costs, permitting delays, regulations that protect nobody but exist anyway — and I want a real accounting of it, not a talking point.
Every job in state government is paid for by tax revenue that ultimately comes from a private economy that has to be healthy enough to generate it. If private-sector job creation is falling behind government hiring, that's not a talking point — it's a warning sign about whether the tax base can keep supporting the services people rely on.
Get government out of the way of businesses. I built one without the state's help — I want the next person to have it easier than I did, not harder.
